MicroProse has returned together with 3 new game announcements

One of the most esteemed game company’s of yesteryear has been revived. MicroProse has now officially returned into the spotlight after being pretty much dead for close to two decades. With a new owner who is already very well known for military simulations, the iconic publisher is ready to shake things up once again.

While the name might only ring a bell for seasoned gamer’s today, back in the 80s and 90s the name MicroProse alone was like a seal of quality for exceptional games. The company especially made a name for itself in the strategy and simulation genres, with titles like Civilization, X-COM: UFO Defense, and a plethora of military simulators.

How fitting then, that the company is immediately returning where it left off. With not one but three game announcements, there’s little question that MicroProse means business. In their blog post, the studio also states that this is just the beginning of the comeback for MicroProse with more games to follow.

First up, we have Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age. A naval military simulator developed by Triassic Games, featuring the tense Cold War scenario between the Soviets and NATO forces.

From the lead designer of Cold Waters, Sea Power lets you control NATO and Warsaw Pact forces in modern naval conflict campaigns. Use your advanced naval weaponry and sensors to respect rules of engagement and defeat the enemy forces in a tense fight for initiative and air/naval supremacy.

Task Force Admiral is the second game of the trio that was announced and is similar to Sea Power a naval military strategy simulator. But this time set in the Pacific theater of World War II. It’s being developed by Drydock Dreams Games.

Experience the thrill of leading American aircraft carriers to victory in this innovative full 3D command simulation wargame set in the Pacific in 1942. First-person or God’s eye, you lead your fleet and planes right from the center of the battle.

Last but not least MicroProse has shared that with Second Front a more traditional grid-based World War II strategy game is also incoming.

Second Front is an accessible WWII turn-based tactical game with more than 40 infantry units and 200 tanks, vehicles and guns. It has all the depth of a paper wargame and the ease of a computer simulation. Campaign, scenarios and a complete editor make it an infinite tactical sandbox experience.

Make sure to learn more about each game via their Steam store pages linked above.
