Microsoft confirms Gears of War: Ultimate Edition headed to PC after Xbox One release

We kind of knew this.

During San Diego Comic-Con Microsoft revealed a brand new Xbox One bundle that included Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, before that announcement another major announcement was made – Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is headed to the PC.

The news came from Rod Ferguson, the studio head at The Coalition (formerly Black Tusk, the studio behind the Gears series) during the PC Gaming Show during E3 2015. The game will support up to 4K resolution on PCs, will utilize Direct X12, and will have a slew of other visual improvements. As for the game's release on PC, it will come after the Xbox One release.

The original announcement of the PC version did not exactly include an official release date, but if it was releasing at the same time as the Xbox One version… they would have metioned it as it's pretty big news for the PC gaming community.

Xbox Head Phil Spencer has been hit with the question of when Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be releasing on the PC ever since the announcement.

Spencer has confirmed that the game is, in fact, releasing later than the Xbox One version.

There you have it folks.

The Xbox One version releases on August 25, 2015.
