Microsoft ditches Gamescom to hold their own event

Microsoft has hosted a press briefing at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany a few years in a row now but the streak ends here. Today Microsoft officially announced that they won't host a press conferecne at Gamescom this year.

Yep, Microsoft won't have a press briefing at Gamescom this year, but fear not, they will be hosting a new event during those dates instead, the Xbox FanFest, an event they will share more information and details about "soon".

"While we will not be hosting a media briefing this year, we’re planning a new and more intimate Xbox FanFest experience for our fans across Europe and worldwide attending gamescom 2016.  We will be sharing more details on our gamescom 2016 Xbox FanFest soon."

Microsoft will of course still have a booth at Gamescom where people can come and play some highly anticipated Xbox games such as Sea of Thieves, Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2, Forza Horizon 3, and ReCore, as well as some ID@Xbox titles such as We Happy Few, Cuphead, and Everspace.

Maybe Microsoft showed everything that was worth showing at E3 or maybe they're just saving their announcements.
