Microsoft exec: Xbox One games ‘every bit as good, if not better’ than PS4

Xbox product planning boss Albert Penello believes that all this hardware comparison between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is "in some ways meaningless." I know what you're about to say — of course he would say this, Microsoft is the one with the less powerful system. But he actually makes some pretty valid argument.

"You bought a system to play great games and have great experiences," he said. "I feel like our games and experiences are going to be every bit as good, if not better, technically – on top of all the magic we're going to add with the instant switching, and the power of the cloud."

"The problem," according to Penello, "is that Sony decided to go out and publish a bunch of numbers, which are in some ways meaningless.

"As a matter of fact, they actually go out and they talk about how proud they are about their off-the-shelf parts. Our guys'll say, we touched every single component in the box and everything there is tweaked for optimum performance."

Penello went on to point out that he heard "this exact same argument last generation and it's a pointless argument, because people are debating things which they don't know about."

He's got a point; admittedly, I'm no technical spec expert. And Microsoft did have an impressive showcase of games at E3, but really, what Sony has managed to do with its exclusives toward the end of this generation is really what's driving me towards the excitment of a PS4. That's not to say Microsoft won't step up its offering of Xbox One exclusives.
