Microsoft files logo trademark; Possibly Xbox Project Scorpio related

Microsoft has been hard at work on their beefed up Xbox One console codenamed Project Scorpio for a while now. The game developer, publisher, and console manufacturer has been letting developers get their hands on a dev kit version of the console, but the retail version of the Scorpio has been kept under wraps.

Everything beyond the console specs has been shrouded in secret, we don't know how it will look or what its name will be.

A new trademark from Microsoft (filed today) might have shed some light on what the upcoming console will be named, well, at least one of the letters in it.

While the trademark could easily be for something other than Project Scorpio, the trademark classifications specify that the trademarked image is for a console.

The Classifications:

  • 9: Computer game software for use with personal computers and video game consoles.
  • 28: Video game consoles for use with an external display screen or monitor; video game interactive remote control units.

Project Scorpio will feature eight cores, six teraflops, 320GB/s memory bandwidth, 4K/VR gaming, backward compatibility, and will be available this holiday season.
