Asobo Studios is preparing to release the first huge ‘World Update’ for its smash-hit Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Get immersed in the many breathtaking vistas of Japan in the new trailer below!
Microsoft has a real big hit on their hands with the newest iteration of the venerable Flight Simulator franchise. Developed by series’ newcomer Asobo Studios, the success of it is a very welcome surprise.
After all, the franchise has been dormant for over a decade and the French developers at Asobo Studios aren’t really known for their simulator prowess. You’ll probably know them best for last year’s A Plague Tale: Innocence.
But they actually pulled off the impossible and brought back the series in style with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Not only is it arguably one of the best-looking games out there at the moment but with actual real-world satellite imagery, MFS 2020 is as photorealistic as it gets.
Offering the entire globe as your playground is a big task though and while from thousands of feet up in the air everything looks greatly detailed, diving deeper highlights the shortcomings of satellite images. That’s where manual work comes in and on September 29th the land of the rising sun Japan will receive a massive World Update.
Meaning, dozens of iconic locations from Japan will be added to the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 with a free patch. From bustling metropoles Tokyo & Yokohama to challenging island strips, virtual pilots will get more than enough reasons for a trip across the Pacific to engage in virtual tourism.
Keeping in mind that Virtual Reality support is also planned to come later this year as a free update, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is the gift that keeps on giving. With the Standard Edition being included in the Xbox Game Pass for PC, it has never been easier and cheaper to dip your toes in the fascinating world of flight simulators.
