Microsoft Flight Simulator celebrates 2m players, Shows Virtual Reality

Asobo Studios released a new trailer for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. It focuses on the simulator’s Virtual Reality support that is coming later this month. Enjoy a virtual ride across the skies in the new trailer below!

There’s no question anymore. The new flight simulator from Microsoft is a real blockbuster. For being one of the most detailed simulators on the market, over 2 million users already bought their tickets for this flight.

And for good reason. It’s the first major new entry in the series in over 14 years. As such, it’s a great relief that the French studio managed to propel the Microsoft Flight Simulator back into the spotlight once more.

Even better, it’s just the start. Only four months after the simulator launched, huge free updates enhanced it in a big way. These ‘World Updates’ aim to deliver extremely detailed points of interest, maps, and more across a set region. After two successful World Updates for Japan and the USA, it’s the United Kingdom’s turn next month.

Before that though, Asobo Studio has a nice present for all users. Virtual Reality support is coming on December 22nd as a free update. Without a doubt a huge new feature, especially in a simulator game. Most importantly, Microsoft Flight Simulator will support all major VR headsets. Windows Mixed Reality, Oculus, and SteamVR devices will work.

Many other companies also sell VR versions of their games as separate products, too. Hence, it’s a real joy to see Microsoft support their new flight simulator so extensively.

While PC users are lucky enough to enjoy MFS 2020 already, owners of an Xbox Series X|S have to wait a little longer. The console version will come out next summer. It’ll be interesting to see whether console gamers will be able to enjoy the simulator in VR too.
