Microsoft Flight Simulator World Update tackles the United States

The second World Update for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator is live now. The free update adds dozens of high-quality locations and other improvements all across the United States. Enjoy the new trailer detailing it here!

Asobo Studio and Microsoft really hit out the park with the long-awaited new Microsoft Flight Simulator. And so much could have gone wrong, too! Most importantly, it’s Asobo’s first jab at the genre.

Thankfully, it worked out well in the end. Not only is it a great simulator, but it even eclipses previous games. We’re of course talking about the option to get actual satellite image data right from the cloud. This makes the Microsoft Flight Simulator arguably the most photo-realistic game out now.

While it’s already a joy to travel the entire world as is, it still cannot replace hand-crafted quality just yet. That’s where the World Updates come in. These focus on adding high-quality objects, terrain, and more into certain countries & regions to the flight simulator.

The first World Update focused on Japan in September. Now, it’s the United States’ turn. Available as a free update, the update adds 50 high-fidelity points of interest across the entire country.

Furthermore, four highly-detailed and hand-crafted large airports can now be enjoyed as well. You’ve got Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Friday Harbor, and New York Stewart. On top of that, 48 more airports received manual improvements.

On top of that, the entire USA region also got an improved elevation map. As well as new aerial textures for all states. It’s a massive update and the perfect excuse to explore the United States from the air.

Asobo Studio also unveiled in a recent stream that the next destination for the third World Update will be the United Kingdom. You can expect to see that one in January.
