One week ago we were celebrating the release of Halo 5: Guardians and now Microsoft has revealed that the game is the fastest-selling exclusive game to date, bringing in over $400m already.
During this week Halo 5 has not only been the most played game on Xbox Live, but has smashed the $5billion mark for the franchise's lifetime earnings.
Already there has been a staggering 21 million hours worth of gameplay played across the world, and that's just the campaign mode. However for those interested in the online side of things, Microsoft has recorded 9 million hours of gameplay across the globe, totalling 30 hours across all game modes – an astonishing feat for the Xbox exclusive title.
Halo Guardians also sparked a Guinness World Record title after Halo: 5 Live was named the most watched video game broadcast, with around 330,000 unique streams covering the event – recording 5.5 million views in total across the entire week.
The head of Xbox, Phil Spencer said: “The success of Halo 5: Guardians is a testament to the innovative work from the entire team at 343 Industries to bring this instalment to Xbox One and the incredible community of fans who have come to love the story, characters and gameplay central to the franchise.
The game represents all the possibilities of Xbox One and has earned its place as the anchor title in the greatest holiday games line-up in Xbox history.”
