Like The Hobbit, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Microsoft is splitting its new console reveal into two parts. On the latest Major Nelson podcast, Microsoft's interactive entertainment chief of staff Aaron Greenberg said that the next Xbox will be revealed in two stages.
Hopefully it's because there'll be too much awesome for one event.
The first stage of the reveal starts tomorrow, May 21. The event starts at 10am PDT at the Xbox Campus in Redmond, WA. The second stage is going to be at E3, where it'll be all about the games.
Greenberg states, "The best way I can describe it is, we're really going to tell one story across two events. So we're going to start on the 21 [of May] and really that's about revealing the next Xbox platform and our vision for the future of games, the future of entertainment. We definitely have a lot of surprises planned. […] It's a lot of laying the foundation, and then just a couple weeks later we go to E3, and E3 is all about the games. It's going to be tons of exclusives [and] world premiers."
I'm looking forward to Microsoft blowing me away tomorrow, because I need them to. Then, we'll board the hype train in the couple of weeks to E3.
