Microsoft is officially ending the Kinect

The time has come to say farewell to the motion-sensing device from Microsoft – the Kinect's production is coming to an end.

In an interview with Co.Design, Microsoft announced that they will no longer be manufacturing the Kinect. Throughout its lifetime, the Kinect reportedly sold around 35 million Kinect units, though it isn't clear if that number includes the amount of Kinect units that came bundled with an Xbox.

Microsoft released the Kinect back in 2010 for the Xbox 360, discontinued the first model for the Xbox 360 in April 2016, and then re-released the motion-sensing device's '2.0' version for the Xbox One in 2013. Once again, the Kinect is meeting its end.

No further details were provided.
