The Microsoft product page for Assassin's Creed III has leaked a new online co-op feature for between two and four players.
Standard online multiplayer, as seen in previous Assassin's Creed titles, Brotherhood and Revelations, will return; however, the mention of online co-op remains a mystery.
The new online co-op mode first appeared on Xbox.com and has since been removed leaving only "online multiplayer for between two and eight players" as well as content downloads and voice chat.
It begs the question as to whether this was a slip-up on Microsoft's part, and if so, what the co-op play will entail. Will it be a separate wilderness-roaming mode or a separate tie-in with the main campaign?
Then again, we don't even know if online co-op is a sure thing. Ubisoft has yet to officially announce any details regarding the multiplayer for the game.
Yesterday, the company officially released the new Assassin's Creed III trailer, along with some details about the game engine. According to Ubisoft, AC3 will be powered by Ubisoft-AnvilNext, "a revolutionary new game engine that delivers breakthroughs in visual quality, character models and artificial intelligence. Assassin's Creed III will feature a ground-breaking level of stunning graphics that bring Colonial America to life."
It was also revealed that Assassin's Creed III is a collaborative effort of seven different Ubisoft studios, led by Ubisoft Montreal.
In addition, the new game will ditch the franchise's main protagonist Ezio for a brand new hero: Ratohnaké:ton, or Connor, who is of Native American and English heritage. Tons of details regarding the new Assassin's Creed title have been revealed this past week. Check them out here.
