Microsoft held its Windows 10 event today and amongst the slew of reveals they made one extra announcement that affects everyone who wants the new operating system.
Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for anyone running on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and Windows Phone OS.
It’s a pretty monumental decision on Microsoft’s part since they never offered a free OS upgrade, especially not one as big like Windows 10. The closest we got to an amazing deal on a new OS was when Windows 8 launched for a mere $39.99 when upgrading from any previous OS. The price then went back to up to it’s normal retail price on January 31st, 2013.
It is noted that some editions of Windows are excluded: Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 8/8.1 Enterprise, and Windows RT/RT 8.1.
