Microsoft partners with Hauppauge to bring free over-the-air TV to Xbox One

Right now, there are a plethora of television/movie options available on the Xbox One. There's HBO GO, Netflix, Hulu Plus, live Internet TV from Sling TV, and the capability to watch live TV through your cable or satellite box. But what about those of you who want to watch live television from free over-the-air stations — the channels that don't require you to have a television contract, like CBS, FOX, and NBC ?

Thanks to a new partnership with Hauppauge, Microsoft is now able to offer support for over-the-air TV on the Xbox One in the U.S. and Canda.

Starting today, Xbox One preview program members can get over-the-air TV by purchasing the Hauppauge WinTV-955Q (MSRP $79.99 at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop and Micro Center), and an HDTV antenna, which will allow access to the free over-the-air stations in your area. The channels available could change depending on where you're living.

While it's a bit pricey now, the partnership does include a lower cost version of this tuner, the Hauppauge TV Tuner for Xbox One, which will retail for $59.99 when released some time in the next few months.
