Last month, at a Microsoft Spring Showcase event, 343 Industries spoke of the future of the Halo series. During it, they revealed they have 10 years worth of Halo stories that will be told.
With the team hard at work in the "crunch" stage of Halo 4, Microsoft is already looking towards the future. Fusible is reporting that Microsoft has registered domain names for "Halo Infinity". The site is reporting domains like HaloInfinity.net (Whois) and HaloInfinityMultiplayer.com (Whois) were picked up by Microsoft through the internet brand protection company MarkMonitor.
Additional domain names that were registered include: HaloInfinity.org, HaloInfinity.co.uk, HaloInfinity.mobi, HaloInfinity.de, HaloInfinityMultiplayer.net, HaloInfinityMultiplayer.org, HaloInfinityMultiplayer.co.uk, HaloInfinityMultiplayer.mobi and HaloInfinityMultiplayer.de.
As Fusible notes, Infinity was a popular multiplayer map created exclusively for the PC version of Halo: Combat Evolved. Does this mean Microsoft will be releasing it as a multiplayer map for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary?
We don't know for sure, and Microsoft hasn't officially been confirmed as the buyer of all of these Halo Infinity domains due to each name being hidden in the Whois privacy. However, Microsoft is one of MarkMonitor's high-profile clients, and even Microsoft's own Microsoft.com is registered through the company.
Do you think Halo Infinity will be a multiplayer map or a standalone title?
