Microsoft’s AI can’t tell DOOM from a field of flowers

Or maybe it is playing dumb to later take over the world!

Creating artificial intelligence is apparently the latest hype for tech companies like Google and Microsoft. Google's AI even beat professional Go play, Lee Sedol, at the complex east Asian board game, but when it comes to recognizing pictures the AI's still has a way to go.

Swedish gaming news site FZ decided to test Microsoft's new Captionbot to see if the modern day AI is as good at recognizing pictures as it is at beating professionals at their own games. The result was hilarious. Though some users pointed out that Microsoft dumbed down their AI since Tay decided to pick PS4 over Xbox and became a racist.

To test the AI the team from FZ gave it a few pictures from some of the most well known games like DOOM, Fallout, and Lemmings. It's fair to say that it failed.

It is springtime after all.

yes, flowers

Indeed, it does look like giraffes.

giraffs

These are just a few examples of how hilariously wrong Microsoft's AI got it. But who knows, maybe it is just playing dumb while planning to take over the world?
