Microsoft says Xbox One S pre-orders are “off to an amazing start”

During E3 2016 Microsoft revealed the Xbox One S, a smaller and more powerful iteration of the Xbox One. A few members of the community were concerned with the Xbox One S being immediately made obsolete by the following announcement of Project Scorpio.

Despite concerns, Microsoft is claiming that the Xbox One S is selling quite well – as far as pre-orders go.

"Pre-orders for the limited launch edition 2TB Xbox One S are off to an amazing start and it’s not just fans who are excited by the Xbox One S, our retail partners are just as enthusiastic," wrote Mike Nichols, Corporate Vice President of Marketing for Xbox on the Xbox Wire.

Following Nichols' statement, GameStop's senior vice president commented on the Xbox One S and how the retailer expects the gaming community to react to it.

“With all the new innovation we’ve seen and experienced with Microsoft’s new Xbox One S console, we anticipate this creating excitement among our customers,” said Bob Puzon, senior vice president of Merchandising for GameStop. “The new sleek design and the ability to watch Blu-Ray movies and stream video in 4K Ultra HD with HDR is sure to make the new Xbox One console one of our most sought after products when it launches later this year.”

So, the $299 Xbox One S isn't doing so bad by Microsoft's standards.
