Apparently, there's an image going around claiming to be the steps needed to make your Xbox One backwards compatible. Don't do it; it could brick your console.
"To be clear there is no way to make your Xbox One backwards compatible," Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has warned. "Performing steps to attempt this could make your console inoperable."
Hryb's warning echos the message sent out by Microsoft following the publishing of a video which explains how to turn your Xbox One into a "dev kit," one of the steps in the scam directions being sent out.
"Changing the settings in this menu is only intended for developers for Xbox One, and this alone does not turn the console into a development kit," Microsoft warned earlier this week. Inputting an incorrect SandBox ID can actually trigger a boot loop-inducing error that can make the console unusable.
