Later this week, Microsoft will be releasing legacy Xbox Gamertags that have gone inactive to anyone that is and has been an active Xbox Live Gold member. Xbox onwers will have to have had at least a subscription to one year of cumulative Xbox Live Gold tenure.
The Gamertags will be released over a 24-hour period and come from the original Xbox era – meaning that when we see the Gamertags get rereleased, there will be plenty of short and simple Gamertags available. You can go number free!
While Microsoft has not revealed which inactive Gamertags will be released, they have teased them to be from the following categories:
The release will begin on Wednesday, May 18th at 2:00 PM ET / 11:00 AM PT. If you are looking to scoop up one of these names for yourself, you'll want to head to Xbox.com or click here to change your Gamertag on the web.
