Microsoft Game Studios Announced
that MechAssault 2 is in Development

February 5, 2004—Today, Microsoft
Game Studios announced that MechAssault 2 is currently in development and is
scheduled to arrive on retail shelves in time for the 2004 holiday season.
MechAssault 2 is being developed by Day 1 Studios, creators of the best-selling
sci-fi action-shooter MechAssault for Xbox, and guarantees an entirely fresh and
exciting gameplay experience for seasoned combat veterans and newcomers alike.

of the warrior.

No longer limited to life within a
single BattleMech, gamers take on the role of a full-fledged human pilot and are
able to pick and choose from a roster of combat vehicles including Tanks,
Vertical TakeOff and Landing crafts (VTOLs), BattleArmor, and, of course,
BattleMechs. The right vehicle choice is key to successfully completing the wide
variety of missions in the game and defeating the opposition. Solo gamers will
find the single-player campaign significantly richer with a deeper story line,
NPC interaction, and missions delivered on the fly.

BattleArmor, a new and exciting
addition, will play a key role in the action. BattleArmor allows gamers to
become one of the deadliest weapons in the MechAssault 2 universe. More than
just a protective shell, BattleArmor gives the wearer the ability to hijack
enemy ‘Mechs, climb buildings, tear through infantry squads, and unleash pure
devastation on enemy armor. BattleArmor-equipped gamers can even hitch a ride on
VTOLs for a quick airborne assault on enemy positions!

Xbox Live gamers will be in awe of
the new MechAssault 2 features. Massive battles will rage between teams armed to
the teeth with ‘Mechs, Tanks, BattleArmor, and VTOLs. Online play will never be
the same as squads of BattleArmor are dropped by VTOLs into enemy territory,
leaving chaos and destruction in their wake as they ‘jack enemy ‘Mechs and turn
defensive systems against their own clan. Xbox Live will give MechAssault 2
players the opportunity to wage war between clans and across planets while still
offering popular gameplay modes from the original.
