Two years ago, Keiji Inafune, the father of Mega Man, took to Kickstarter to promote his new game, Mighty No. 9. It didn't take long for the Kickstarter to get funded, proving that fans just weren't ready to let go of Mega Man, or at least a Mega Man-type game.
Today, Deep Silver, the publisher behind games like Saints Row IV, Dead Island and Metro Redux, announced that it will also handle the publishing for Mighty No. 9. The company also announced that the game will be available both physically and digitally on September 15 in the US, and September 18 worldwide.
Kickstarter backers will also receive the Ray DLC, which adds an extra stage to the game, as well as the ability to unlock Ray, Beck's nemesis, as a playable character for the entire game.
The Ray DLC will also be bundled with all retail versions of the game. Here are more details on the game from the publisher's press release.
- •'Ray' DLC: An all-new stage including an epic battle with Beck's rival Ray that, upon completion, unlocks Ray as a playable character for the entire main game, adding unique skills and all-new gameplay mechanics. The stage will be available as additional downloadable content, adding huge replay value. This extra content will be included in all retail editions and will be provided free to all Kickstarter backers of the project, upon release of the game.
- Voice-over support: Japanese and French voice-overs have been recorded and will be added to all versions of the game alongside the already planned English VO.
- Localized versions: Deep Silver will provide localized versions with subtitles in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese languages.
Aside from the date, no price point was given yet.
