Miles Morales officially confirmed to star in 2018 animated Spider-Man film

The recognition he deserves!

The rumors are true, Miles Morales will be leading the untitled animated Spider-Man film! Today, Sony Pictures Animation revealed at an event that the animated film will not star Peter Parker (probably because he has his own live action film and TV series).

Not many details were given but it's nice to see a Spider-Man film with a new set of characters while still retaining that same Spidey feeling. For those who don't follow the comics, Miles Morales is a half black half latino kid who takes on the Spider-Man mantle after Peter Parker dies. He dons a black and red Spidey suit and has a set of stories unique to his character.

It remains to be seen on who the villain will be, if they'll adapt any comic storylines, or if Peter Parker will actually be dead in the animated film.

The untitled Spider-Man film will be produced by 21 Jump Street and the untitled Han Solo movie directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller and will release on December 21st, 2018. Peter Parker's standalone film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, will release July 7th, 2017.
