Minecraft creator Notch currently the second most-influential person in the world, according to Times poll

Minecraft creator Markus 'Notch' Persson is currently ranked as the second most-influential person in the world in this year's Time 100 Poll. He trails only Egypt president Mohamed Morsi.

Notch is, of course, most recognized for his creation of the blocky adventure game Minecraft, which has sold more than 20 million units across all of its platforms. Notch also has over one million followers on Twitter.

The publication's 2013 Time 100 Poll asks its readers to cast votes for who they think are the most influential people in the world. The list includes world leaders, artists, innovators, and icons. Some other notable names on the list include U.S. President Barack Obama, Hunger Games' star Jennifer Lawrence, Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Fans are asked to vote "Absolutely" or "No way" to the question if each of these people should be on the list.

As of the time of this writing, Notch currently has 153,254 "Absolutely" votes and just 17,619 "No Way" votes. Comparatively, the current leader, Mohamed Morsi has 171,843 "Absolutely" votes, but a poll leading 220,441 "No Way" votes (Over 100,000 "No Way" votes more than the second highest). If we're going by ratio, Notch should clearly be the top.

Voting for the most-influential person ends today, April 12. The final Time 100 list will be revealed on Thursday, April 18.
