Minecraft Pocket Edition has sold over 700,000 copies since launch

Mojang's David Kaplan took Twitter today, revealing some sales figures on Minecraft – Pocket Edition.  According to Kaplan Minecraft Pocket Edition has sold over 700,000 copies, quite an impressive number considering the game released almost two months ago.

Kaplan didn't specify if this was combined iOS and Android sales, but did admit that a supersale on Android "fudged up" the stats on Android.  He also revealed that Mojang sells "around 5,000 copies a day now".  Regardless of whether that is one or both devices, it's still an impressive number.

"Thank you all Minecraft fans all over the world for letting me have the best job in the world!" he concluded in his brief report.

Mojang's dedication to the game, even after its release, is probably one of the reasons contributing to continued sales of the game. A few days back he admitted Mojang had made a "huge mistake" with Minecraft Pocket Edition and announced they were working on bringing many fan requests to the game.

"We have read tons of comments and feedback and it seems like we made a huge mistake," he explained. "You wanted monsters, resources, animals and more different blocks."

In the same update, Kaplan revealed plans to submit a new update by February 8, 2012 which will be the stepping stones for an added survival mode.
