Minecraft: PS3 Edition is getting a physical disc release

An all-digital future may be on the way, but there's still a number of gamers who prefer the physical feel of a retail game disc. Those people will be pleased to know that Mojang has plans to release Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition on retail disc next month.

"Following on the successful launch, we’re pleased to confirm that Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition will be available on retail disc starting May 16th," Mojang's Owen Hill announced today.

"That means you can go into a real-life store, buy it, and then take it home in a little bag," he explained for today's younger generation who is probably unfamiliar with this archaic form of shopping.

Minecraft: PS3 Edition will include all of the features that came with update 14 on disc, including Emeralds, Ender Chests, potatoes, and more.

And for those wondering, 4J Studios is still working on bringing Minecraft to PS4 and Vita. "Sorry for the delay, but making Minecraft happen is serious business," Hill said.
