Minecraft: PS4 Edition out in Europe, ‘later today’ in North America

As we learned late last night, Minecraft: PS4 Edition is set to release today in North America. Those of you lucky ducks in Europe can already download it.

While we don't have an exact time for release, we do have a pretty specific window — before 12:00pm Pacific (3:00pm Eastern). Minecraft: PS4 Edition will be priced at $19.99; however, an upgrade option is available to any existing PS3 Edition owners for just $4.99. Additionally, existing players will be able to import their PS3 saves to the PS4 Edition, carrying their progress over to worlds that are 36 times as big as the ones offered in the last-gen version.

Meanwhile, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition is set to release on Friday. It, too, will be priced at $19.99 with an upgrade discount offered to last-gen users. 4J Studios confirmed that a small update is rolling out across Xbox Live, adding the ability to transfer Xbox 360 saves to Xbox One. As for the weird pricing you may see for the Xbox One Edition, 4J "assumes" its a result of Microsoft running thats that "shouldn't be visible."
