Minecraft: PS4 Edition has been available digitally through the PlayStation Store since the beginning of the month, but not everyone prefers to download their games. Some traditionalists like the look of neatly lined up game cases; they like the feel of a hard, circular disc in their hand. Those people will be happy to know that the retail disc version of Minecraft: PS4 Edition will be available starting on October 7.
Arriving alongside the retail version is a day 1 patch "to ensure the best Minecraft experience possible on PS4." Sony didn't get into any other specifics.
Just yesterday developer 4J Studios released a "small update" to Minecraft: PS3 Edition, adding the ability to transfer saved worlds from the PS3 to the PS4 Edition. And with world sizes 36 times larger than the ones in the PS3 version, you're going to want to transfer. To transfer a saved world from Minecraft: PS3 Edition, simply go to the saves list, select the save you want to transfer, and press R1 to bring up the save options. It's that easy.
