Minecraft sells over 6 million copies on XBLA

The megapopular sandbox game Minecraft has sold more than 6 million units on Xbox Live Arcade, according to version developer 4J Studios over Twitter.

This figure reflects an increase of 1 million from the end of 2012. At $20 a pop, the Xbox 360 Edition has earned about $120 million in sales.

Those numbers are likely to rise as a disc-based retail release hits stores on April 30 for the same price.

Back in January, total sales for the game across PC, Xbox 360, Android, and iOS had reached 20 million. The Pocket Edition for mobile devices was the highest contributor at 7.3 million copies. PC sales consisted of 9 million.
