Minecraft: Story Mode lands on Android & iOS

Minecraft's brand new Story Mode has officially arrived on both Android and iOS, after launching on Xbox, PlayStation and Steam earlier in the week.

The sandbox title has made a name for itself by leaving the ball very much in the player's court and allowing their imagination to be their only barrier, but now there is a something much more for gamers to sink their teeth into.

For those that are not aware, Story Mode will work on an episodic basis, with the first episode having already been released on various platforms. Gamers can either purchase each episode individually at a price of $4.99 each, or purchase the full season for $24.99.

The description for episode one reads as follows: "In this five part episodic series, play as either a male or female hero named 'Jesse,' and embark on a perilous adventure across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond.

"You and your friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect; slayers of the Ender Dragon.

"While at EnderCon in hopes of meeting Gabriel the Warrior, you and your friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and you must set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone if you are to save your world from oblivion."

This is the first time that the Mojang title has really incorporated storylines within the game, a change that has been met with a mixed response amongst fans. Some fans have argued that the game should stay true to its basic style, without any real focus on characters, episodes and so on.

However, if you are interested just head over to the App store on your mobile device and download the "Minecraft: Story Mode" application.
