Minecraft: Story Mode’s Episode 2 gets surprise release today

In a surprise move, Telltale Games has released Minecraft: Story Mode's second episode, "Assembly Required."

With no previous announcement and the first episode having just released recently, the move comes as quite the surprise — especially given how long fans normally have to wait between episodic releases from Telltale. The new episode is available for download on consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile devices. A description of the episode reads:

"Time is running out for our intrepid heroes, as the Wither Storm looms ever closer, consuming everything in its' wake. Jesse and friends are off to explore wondrous Redstone marvels and kingdoms of chaos in search of Magnus and Ellegaard, the remaining known members of The Order of the Stone. Can these legendary figures help our heroes stop the impending threat?"

In addition to the new episode, today also marks the release of the physical copy of Minecraft: Story Mode, now available in stores across North America For $29.99. It includes access to all five episodes of the game as they become available.
