Minecraft surpasses 8 million copies sold

Minecraft has sold over eight million copies on PC and Mac, Mojang announced today.

"That’s a lot,"  Mojang's Owen Hill said on behalf of of the company in a blog post.

"It’s simply amazing," added Minecraft lead designer Jens Bergensten, who took over as lead designer for the game's original creator Markus 'Notch' Persson back in December 2011. Notch has meanwhile shifted his attention to a new game, 0x10c.

But he hasn't forgotten about his love. In response to the sales new, Notch replied: "69I960EHE0A4A0IVG0EHE02500R4R0G1T30PLJ00V6V0EHE0V1U01V10U5U0VGV0V4R".

A man of many words, that Notch is.
