Let's take a moment to acknowledge 2015 as the year Minecraft finally came to Nintendo platforms, after a long period of mixed messages and petitioning. Since Minecraft: Wii U Edition released on the eShop, it's received multiple patches so the experience is more on par with the bells and whistles of other versions. Now it will also share a presence in the retail space.
This afternoon, it was confirmed via the official series Twitter account that a disc version of Minecraft: Wii U Edition is being prepared and will be available "soon." The digital version has a price tag of $29.99 due to included DLC packs, but seeing as the 360 and Playstation 3 Editions go for $10 less than that, it remains to be seen what the MSRP will end up being for this release. The same goes for the included features: will it forgo the six add-ons that come with the digital version?
In any case, this secondary avenue will appeal to Wii U owners who may not actively use the eShop, or those who still prefer hard copies in our digital era.
