Minecraft XBLA reached 5 million downloads in 2012

The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft accrued 5 million copies in sales by the end of 2012 — a great complement to Notch's announcement last week.

Creator Marcus Persson revealed that Minecraft sold 453,000 copies across all platforms on December 25. As of December 13, it had sold 17.5 million total.

We now know how much the Xbox 360 version contributed to that figure last year. But the work isn't over for developer 4J Studios. It tweeted today that it's investigating the bugs reported with Title Update 7.
