Mini Nintendo NES will show the ‘next generation of gamers’ just how good we had it

Nintendo presented their very own Mini Nintendo NES on Thursday, an announcement that seemingly marked the arrival of a gift back to the developer's fan base, however it would seem the reason for the console's reveal stretches further than nostalgia.

Reggie Fils-Aime, the president of Nintendo America, sees the console's release as an opportunity to open the eyes of the gamers of today, in showing them the quality of the past.

"We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo's original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place," said Fils-Aime.

The system will be just as easy to use as other current-gen consoles as well, allowing gamers to hook it up to their television screens using a simple HDMI cable.

A HDMI wire and an AC adaptor will be included with the product, along with an NES Classic Controller. You will be able to use original Wii controllers with this Mini NES, but not original NES controllers.

The new NES controllers, however, have a projected price point of $9.99 – much cheaper than the likes of Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and others, obviously.

"The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers," he added.

If you're wondering about how the games will work on this new device, there will be a number of pre-loaded classics that come built-in with the console. Check the full list out by clicking here.

The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition will be available for $59.99, and is expected to hit shelves across the world this fall.
