Yesterday we were given a title for the second installment in the Mirror's Edge series, the game had mistakenly been called Mirror's Edge 2 for a long while — long enough for EA to reveal Mirror's Edge Catalyst as the official game title.
The Senior Producer for Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Sara Jansson, released a statement regarding the game's development, what the game is and where we can expect to see more of it.
Since the initial reveal that another Mirror's Edge was in production, the developers kept relatively silent on the subject. It turns out they had been "listening" all along and by next week, we will have seen more of Mirror's Edge Catalyst at E3 2015.
First and foremost, according to Jansson the game is "not a sequel, this is not Mirror's Edge 2." The developers working on the game have held on to the core features of the original game, but have brought them to a new level in Catalyst. "We have landed on a vision that honors the first game — pushing the boundaries of first person movement and diving deeper into the story behind our heroine Faith — but also brings a lot of great new, interesting gameplay and features to the experience for our players."
The EA press conference will take place on Monday June 15 at 1:00 PM PT/ 4 PM ET.
