If waiting for Red Dead Redemption 2 is simply too much for you, there's hope! A set of game modders, called .White, are doing the unthinkable and bringing Red Dead to Grand Theft Auto V (kind of). The mod's goal is to bring the full map from Red Dead Redemption to GTA V, with yet to be revealed "additional content."
A beta of the mod is planned for Summer 2017 and is detailed as being solely intended to be used in Single Player, not on GTA Online.
According to the FAQ, .White is using the Xbox 360 version of Red Dead Redemption and converting the files for the PC version of GTA V. The mod has been in development for around 2 years and is staying as true to Red Dead Redemption as possible, though some maps are being remade because they aren't big enough.
No release date was revealed, however, we can enjoy this teaser trailer for it!
