Mojang delay Minecraft Update 1.9, new release date announced

Monday 29th of February will be the day Minecraft's update 1.9 officially comes into action. Mojang has delayed the patch for a few days, just hours before its original release date.

The new release schedule has been put up on Mojang's latest blog post, and now it seems gamers will have to wait a little longer than the original February 25th launch.

Many of you might have heard about the way Mojang introduce updates. Quite often they roll out Pre-Release versions which gives gamers a chance to spot bugs while trying out the new changes.

The Microsoft-owned company has published the Pre-Release 2 & 3 version of the 1.9 patch for players to take a look at. As is the case with many of Minecraft's pre-release updates, be sure to back-up any saves that you have made as updates can often corrupt current saves – as it just saves the aggravation of having to restart something you may have already built.

According to Mojang, this latest Minecraft patch will cover the following:

  • Bugs fixed
  • Increased durability of shields
  • Some crystals in the end are protected by cages again
  • Added 34.7% more hype for Minecraft 1.9
