Before Nintendo broadcasted the first Nintendo Direct since Nintendo CEO and President Satoru Iwata's passing in June something interesting appearing on the Pan European Game Information page (PEGI for short) – a listing for a Wii U version of Minecraft. Unfortunately, the listing disappeared without so much of a word from Nintendo acknowledging its existence.
Well, it's now official! Minecraft is headed to the Wii U! Mojang took to their website to break the news, as well as announce that the game would be supported with content packs.
Minecraft Wii U will coming bundled with six of the game's "most popular add-on packs" and a "Festive" mash-up, "just in time for the holidays." Mojang will be supporting the game by adding more content packs and bringing free updates to the core game. The Wii U Edition will feature off-TV play with the Gamepad, so players can free up theTV if they need to.
Minecraft will be coming to the Wii U eShop on December 17 for $30.
