Mojang’s Scrolls is officially out for PC and Android Tablets

You can even try the game completely for free!

I haven't been following Mojang's Scrolls, which is a hybrid of a trading card game (TCG) and a board game. It probably explains why I'm so surprised by its official release today!

For $5, players can download the full game in its entirety, which is fairly cheap compared to other similar titles. However, one cool option is that players can also opt to try the game's demo, which actually features a few notable options. Here is the key difference between the two versions, courtesy of Gaf member Gez:

The demo version gives you access to the following:

  • Purchasing scrolls in the form of singles & packs.
  • Easy daily trials
  • Skirmish (but only against Easy and Medium difficulty AI)
  • Quick match
  • Building and saving decks

It does not give you access to the following features which are found in the full version of the game:

  • Purchasing scrolls from the Just for You-section of the Store
  • Medium & Hard difficulty daily trials
  • Games against Medium & Hard AI.
  • Ranked
  • Judgement
  • Trials

Mojang states that the game currently has over 350 scrolls, and that all of them, besides the four starter decks, can be earned through gameplay. Though for those that want to spend some real money to earn scrolls a bit quicker, those players can opt to buy shards to purchase random packs of scrolls.

What's cool though, is that Mojang says you won't ever have to spend more than the $5 it costs to buy the game in order to progress through Scrolls, since all items are available for a reasonable amount of gold, that can be earned simply through playing the game.
