Mojang shuts down Scrolls

Minecraft is Mojang's only active game

Mojang has announced that it will be shutting down its card strategy game Scrolls, which leaves the Microsoft-owned company with Minecraft as its only active game.

It has been confirmed that Scrolls will not receive any more updates as servers will be closed on July 1st.

"After much deliberation we've come to an important decision that we'd like to share: Echoes will be the last major content patch for Scrolls," Mojang said in the shocking announcement today. "We won't be adding features or sets from now on, though we are planning to keep a close eye on game balance."

The Swedish company was purchased by Microsoft in 2014 for a reported $2.5 billion. It is believed that Microsoft bought the studio entirely for the highly successful Minecraft franchise.

Even though the game is being shut down Mojang are seemingly encouraging people to still purchase the game, with the proceeds being used to keep Scrolls active for as long as possible.
