Monopoly Token Madness Vote will decide fate of eight main token pieces

The Monopoly board game is infamous for tearing families apart on game night, and this latest PR move by Hasbro could send coffee tables into a parallel dimension.

Hasbro announced today it is letting fans decide the fate of its eight main token pieces, which are going up against more than 50 contenders.

Some of the original pieces, including Scottie the dog, the top hat, the car, thimble, and battleship, are going up against newcomers like a penguin, a Jet-ski, sunglasses, a cell phone, and many more.

It’s all part of the Monopoly Token Madness Vote, which fans can click here to participate in. The winning pieces will be included in the next generation of the game, which should hit shelves by this August.

The vote lasts until January 31, and the results will be read on March 19, which is apparently World Monopoly Day.

Just four years ago Hasbro held a similar vote to replace one of the main tokens. The newly included cat token replaced the iron.
