Monster Hunter: World announces PS4-only final beta, new content coming

Your last chance to try the game before launch.

No matter how it ends up turning out, one thing about Monster Hunter: World is undeniable. Players have had enough opportunity to give the game a test run ahead of launch to know whether or not they will be making a Day 1 purchase. At least, such is the case for PS4 owners, as Capcom has unfortunately only held Beta tests for the game on Sony’s platform.

Now, Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter: World will be getting a third and final Beta test just days before the game is scheduled to launch. The beta will start on Thursday, January 18th at 9:00 PM EST and end on January 21st at the same time. The game will then launch later that week on Friday the 26th.

The third beta will also come with some new content, the highlight of which will be the Nergigante, the Elder Dragon that is featured on the game’s cover. It seems a bit ballsy to introduce such a high-profile enemy at this early a stage, but hopefully, that is just a reflection of the dearth of content that awaits us in Monster Hunter: World.

Monster Hunter: World will feature several crossover opportunities including Horizon: Zero Dawn, which is exclusive to PS4 players, and Mega Man, which is another one of Capcom’s brands.

Monster Hunter: World lands first on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26th, and will get a release on PC this Fall.
