Monster Hunter World: Iceborne available this September for consoles

Capcom has shared lots of new details about the massive Iceborne expansion DLC for their  latest success in the Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter World. PS4 and Xbox One users will get the expansion on September 6th while PC folks will have to wait a little longer until winter. Check out the new gameplay trailer!

Monster Hunter World was last year’s fairy tale story by successfully making the transition from a handheld game to the living room. In recent years, the series became synonymous with Nintendo’s handheld systems and thus once it was revealed that World would make the jump to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC longtime fans were anxious whether this would work out. It did and magnificently at that, with Monster Hunter World ending up beloved by critics and gamers alike. On top of the leap to home console, Monster Hunter World also made its debut on PC and likewise ended up one of the bestsellers of 2018.

So, it came as little surprise that in the age of service games, Capcom announced a massive expansion with Iceborne late last year. Little was known about Iceborne’s features but this changes now as Capcom has shared lots of details.

Iceborne’s main selling point is an entirely new area with the snowy Hoarfrost Reach. The cold is much more than just window dressing. Players will have to outfit their characters in new, cold-proof clothing and fight old and new monsters in a fresh and dangerous new area.

Just like the main game, console users will receive Iceborne earlier on September 6th. PC gamers will have to wait until an undisclosed date this winter. The expansion will cost $39.99 for the standard edition and $49.99 containing cosmetic DLC. First-time buyer will also have the option to buy the regular game and the DLC together in the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition for just $59.99. There is also a Master Edition Deluxe for $79.99 containing cosmetic DLC items and a steelbook.
