Monster Hunter World won’t be changed for the West

Over the past few years, we have seen a number of JRPGs get censored or altered for Western consumption. Off hand, God Eater, Fire Emblem Fates, R. Mika's taunt removed from Street Fighter 5 and Star Ocean 5 have all been edited in some way to change character outfits or entire in-game events to better suit the West.

With Monster Hunter World on the way, some fans might have been concerned that the fifth installment in the Monster Hunter franchise would see alterations for the West. Fortunately, that will not be the case! Executive director Kaname Fujioka has made it clear that Monster Hunter World will remain true to the franchise:

“We're not taking things that people in the west hate and fixing them to make western players buy it. People sometimes make that assumption, or they've got that fear, but that's not the case at all.”

Of course, this means that anyone interested in the game should come armed with patience as the game requires a bit of upkeep. Weapons require maintenance in the game, cooking, recipe collecting and ingredient grinding is a common theme, and monsters need to be observed before battle.

The game isn't a hack-n-slash adventure, it's more of an experience in what it would actually be like to be in the game's world (for the most part).

Monster Hunter World will be releasing on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 next year, the PC release date is TBA.
