Warner Brothers Games just put out an awesome new trailer for Mortal Kombat 11. This time we not only get a glimpse at the roster but also a first taste of the game’s story. And it’s a doozy from what we can see. Check it out yourself!
The fighting game juggernaut is back in its eleventh incarnation and with the release date of April 23rd, we’re just one month shy of duking it out in gratuitous violent battles ourselves. We previously reported when developer NetherRealm held a reveal event in Los Angeles where they shared loads of info about their upcoming game.
As a fighting game, a new character in the franchise Geras naturally was the center of attention, but even then we learned that the story of Mortal Kombat 11 would heavily revolve about time manipulation. Just not to what extent. With today’s story trailer this changes a lot. First of all, we get to see Kronika in action. As “The Keeper of Time” she takes on the task to restore duty to all realms which got royally whacked out of its natural order after series poster child Raiden became corrupted and decided to destroy all of Earthrealm’s enemies.
Kronika here is both antagonist and heroine, since she merely wants to bring everything back into balance again. Her unique powers allow her to summon fighters from the past which will undoubtedly make for some jaw-dropping encounters and betrayals. As you can see, this is all a pretty insane setup for an epic adventure combining alternate history, time travel and long-dead characters.
The trailer also confirms the return of Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs and Erron Black into Mortal Kombat 11. If that all got you excited, you’ll be happy to learn that you preorder the game right now. Doing so will also give players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One exclusive access to the closed beta later this month and Shao Khan.
