It's been a long time since we heard anything regarding the Mortal Kombat reboot, luckily, there's some good news for the movie! It finally has a director. The Furious 7 director, James Wan, joined the movie as the producer back in August 2015 and now Simon McQuoid has been attached as the director.
McQuoid is best known for his commercials and is actually one of the most in-demand commercial directors in the business, with a number of awards attached to his name. He's worked on campaigns for PlayStation, Halo, Range Rover, Beats by Dre, and more.
The Mortal Kombat reboot was described the studio as “a departure from the mythology,” with “darker, brutally real martial arts" that will center around a 'harmless' man who finds himself 'caught in the middle of a cross-dimensional battle between the warriors of Earth and the monsters of Outworld.' To save the world from total destruction, he must win the martial arts tournament known as ‘Mortal Kombat,’ which means he obviously knows how to harness his inner martial arts master.
