A new trailer for Mortal Kombat X has been revealed and while it says that it's showing off the story — it shows off a lot more than that. Before we talk about the characters that make an appearance in the video, let's talk about the story.
The events of Mortal Kombat (2011) were 25 years ago, long enough for a new set of fighters to appear. Cassie Cage is stepping up with Jacqueline Briggs, daughter of Jax, Takashi Takeda, son of Kenshi and Kung Jin, descendant of Kung Lao to fight off Mileena and her Outworld rebel army.
Basically, the troop needs to keep the bad guys from getting a special amulet. Take a look at the troop below (from left to right: Kung Jin, Cassie Cage, Jacqueline Briggs, Takashi Takeda):
Interestingly enough, Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat co-creator and Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios, tweeted that the trailer only revealed five characters, but we saw tons of characters.
Only five of the characters are playable; Kung Jin, Jacqueline Briggs, Takashi Takeda are obviously three of the five, right? You can place your bets now!
