Moscow 5 takes the League of Legends European Reigonal Championships

Earlier today, Russian League of Legends team Moscow 5 took out SK Gaming in convincing fashion, winning a best of three series 2-0. This victory earned them $30,000 in prize money, in additional to solidifying their position in the League of Legends World Championships later this year in Los Angeles. They, along with SK Gaming and Counter Logic Gaming (who beat out Fnatic.Raidcall, the defending champions from Season 1) also qualified for the League of Legends Season 3 Championship Series.

This qualification is perhaps the most important of all, considering it earned them a salary paid by Riot just for competiting, in addition to prize bonuses for winning the overall season, as well as any majors that they attend besides Riot events. Not that the Season 2 Championships are anything to scoff at, with $1,000,000 on the line, it will certainly make for a great competition to watch. For a few samples of what you missed, if you didn't get to see the tournament, we've embedded the Day 3 Recap that was released by Riot, which overviewed the Semi-Finals of the European Regionals!

The next event on the League of Legends Championship Circuit for Season 2 is the MLG Summer Championships in Raleigh on August 24th-26th – this event will be the last opportunity for teams to earn points on the Circuit before the North American Regionals being held at PAX Prime a mere 4 days later. Be sure to keep it locked here to GameZone for the latest on the League of Legends Competitive Circuit.
