Unsurprisingly, Steam's refund policy, as late as it was to the party, has been leveraged by many a gamer proving to be an unquestioned improvement to the platform. Steam recently made a post on one of their forums detailing their commitment to the improvement of customer support. In the post is a rather interesting piece of data which reveals that Steam gets roughly 75,000 support requests per day, and as a result can get quite the backlog.
To improve transparency, Steam has released a Support Statistics page, showing a chart of each day's worth of requests, and how many are currently unfulfilled. Also contained with the page is a breakdown of the type of support requests that Steam gets. As you might imagine, most of the requests are for refunds. As of this writing, in the last 24 hours, Steam has received 64,646 requests, 48,258 of which are for refunds. That's almost 75% of today's total support requests.
It's worth noting that the average response time of a refund request is typically between 1.35 hours to 1.99 hours, so all things considered, that's not bad. As the leading platform for digital game sales, it's good to know that Steam is not resting on their laurels.
