Several regional delays affected the launch of MotorStorm: Apocalypse, following the tragic earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan. Though the North American version of the game was expected to meet its original release date of April, SCEA decided to push back the title due to its graphical nature. As indicated by the game’s title, MotorStorm: Apocalypse features scenes of destruction, which many believed were too insensitive to the recent events that transpired in Japan.
According to a post on the official PlayStation Blog, gamers won’t have to wait too much longer for MotorStorm: Apocalypse. The urban racer will be dropping on the PlayStation 3 next month. Beginning May 3, gamers will be able to race across a crumbling environment as they take on either computer-controlled opponents in the game’s story mode or other players in local and online multiplayer.
So far, coverage of the game has been extremely positive. Critics have been pleased with the arcade gameplay of MotorStorm: Apocalypse, and the game’s setting adds a lot to the overall experience. I’ve never played a MotorStorm game before, but even I feel compelled to pick this up on day one.
If you were wondering when MotorStorm: Apocalypse would hit the PlayStation 3, now you have a definite date to look for the title. Mark your calendars for May 3 and get ready for some crazy driving and even crazier crashes. Be sure to check out GameZone’s preview of MotorStorm: Apocalypse for an in-depth look at the game.
